Summer is the best time for sun, fun, and learning new things! One of the best ways to spend summer while still exploring your own creativity is through summer school. It’s where you can dive into various activities and have a blast while learning!
In June, GO School hosted its first summer face-to-face program in collaboration with AJIS, and it was a whirlwind of excitement! Students participated in activities ranging from poster making to game creation, giving them a chance to showcase their talents and creativity. This two-hour-per-day program ran for five weeks, with students grouped by grade level and English skills to ensure personalized learning.
In the first week, students learned something new every day in preparation for their weekly Presentation Day, where they proudly presented their creations. Some groups made storybooks, posters, and even animations they dubbed themselves. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to display their creativity, writing skills, and wit!
Week two was all about making posters, crafts, and even online games using the Scratch app. The younger students had a blast creating their own version of a snake-and-ladder game, which everyone enjoyed playing. It was wonderful to see them having so much fun while discussing their innovative ideas.
The following weeks were packed with more exciting activities, including magic tricks, persuasive writing, making Kahoot quizzes, and more! Students not only felt proud of their creations but also learned valuable techniques in writing, script-making, and communication.
The program culminated in a grand finale where students made more crafts, mazes, and even simple comics. It was impressive to see how these young minds expressed themselves and came up with fantastic ideas. Throughout the program, students were given the freedom to work on their projects, confidently asking questions and collaborating with their peers and teachers. The spirit of unity and helpfulness was truly inspiring.
Though it was just five weeks, we’re confident that the activities and experiences our students had will be etched in their memories for life!
